MK Shannon
MK Shannon designs and produces a wide array of beautiful sculptures that have captivated collectors throughout the world. Her graceful pewter and bronze sculptures tap into, and reflect, a broad range of deep human emotions. Throughout her life, Shannon has had a strong desire to express her creative energy in a form others can understand and appreciate. This desire compelled her to make a dramatic life change in the 1970's, leaving a doctoral program she was enrolled in to pursue her life-long dream of becoming a sculptor. After maintaining studios in Sacramento and the Bay Area, Shannon has recently relocated to the Sierra Foothills of California. Shannon has traveled extensively throughout the world, and uses her life experiences as inspiration for her work.
Shannon's designs include limited edition sculptures, wedding cake toppers, special commissions, and awards. For the last sixteen years, she has been commissioned by the Shaklee Corporation to create their "Atlas" Award. Over 3,500 Atlas Awards have been delivered to recipients in the U.S., Great Briton and Japan. Shannon also assisted on the completion of the California Veterans Memorial. She has created numerous awards for a variety of social causes, including women's issues, healthcare and women's sports. Shannon was commissioned by Working Woman Magazine to design their "Top 50" Awards for Women Owned Businesses, and by Women in Technology to design their Hall of Fame Awards. Her work has been exhibited in galleries in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sausalito, Carmel and Placerville.
