M. Kolsoum Ginney
The works of M. Kolsoum Ginney are drawn from experiences the artist has had in nature, in dreams, or are sometimes the reflections of meditations or visions. They are meant to be experiences of the splendor of light and color from the inner and outer worlds—a bridge between earth and spirit. They are a reflection of the enthusiasm and joy the artist feels when she creates.
M. Kolsoum Ginney has been seriously involved in painting for her entire life, with the last several years chiefly spent in multi-media works and oils. She has drawn her inspiration from long hours in nature, and from her garden. Since 1967 she has been studying the art and philosophy of the East, with particular interest in art as a means of healing and balance for our lives.
M. Kolsoum Ginney holds a B.A. in painting from the University of Michigan and holds a M.A. from California State at Sacramento. She is currently teaching at Folsom Lake College in Placerville.
It is important to give yourself time to experience these works, not rushing through trying to "capture and label "them. They were often painted slowly, enjoyed, and savored as they evolved. It is her hope that these pieces will bring a greater balance and peace into the lives of others.
